Sr. Engineer/Assistant Manager - Projects / Steel Pipeline Execution - 01

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Petroleum engineering fields.

Experience:  0 to 5 years of hands-on experience in CGD steel pipeline execution or cross-country pipeline projects.

Candidates with prior experience in CGD companies (city networks) will be preferred.

Job Summary

To plan, execute, and monitor steel pipeline projects, associated facilities, and statutory compliance within the Namakkal–Tiruchirappalli GA. The role demands strong field execution capability, contractor management, safety compliance, and hands-on technical skills for delivering pipeline infrastructure as per PNGRB, T4S, and applicable standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

A. Project Execution & Site Management

  • Execute steel pipeline laying (4” to 12” NB typical range) including stringing, welding, NDT, lowering, padding, backfilling, and restoration.
  • Execution of associated facilities:
    • SV stations
    • CP stations
    • CNG/DRS installation
    • Hook-up works with existing pipeline
  • Ensure adherence to pipeline alignment sheets, IFC drawings, and installation standards (ASME B31.8, API 1104, ASME Sec IX).

B. Contractor, Resource & Progress Management

  • Daily supervision of contractors, welding gangs, HDD teams, and support contractors.
  • Certification of daily DPRs, joint registers, and site measurements.
  • Ensure timely mobilization of manpower, machinery, HDD rigs, welders, and consumables.
  • Maintain strict control over productivity, wastage, quality, and costs.

C. Quality Assurance & Technical Compliance

  • Ensure QC processes including:
    • WPS/PQR/Welder qualification checks
    • Weld visual inspection, radiography/UT
    • Hydrotesting & pneumatic testing
    • Coating inspection (DFT, holiday test)
  • Verification of materials: API 5L pipes, fittings, valves, flanges, coatings, etc.
  • Maintain documentation: ITP, QAP, test certificates, NDT reports.

D. Statutory & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with PNGRB T4S, OISD guidelines, ASME codes, and internal SOPs.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, HIRA, and monitor the safety of workers, machines, and public property.
  • Ensure permits: Excavation, HDD crossing, hot work, confined space, third-party utility NOCs.

E. HDD & Road/Rail/Nala Crossings

  • Coordinate with HDD contractors for:
    • Bore path design
    • Entry–exit pit preparation
    • Pulling operations and pipe assembly
  • Handle permissions and engineering with NHAI, PWD, railways, water bodies, local authorities.

F. Stakeholder & Land Coordination

  • Interaction with district authorities, local communities, panchayats for RoU permissions.
  • Resolve challenges related to land issues, access roads, and third-party objections.
  • Co-ordinate with IOCL/GAIL/HP pipelines for crossings and tie-ins.

G. Documentation & Reporting

  • Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports (MIS).
  • Maintain as-built drawings, weld maps, hydrotest charts, and restoration records.
  • Coordination with GIS teams for final data submission.
