Experience: Minimum of 20+ years of experience in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large – scale CNG & PNG projects.

Job Summary

The Head – Projects for the CNG & PNG Projects Department will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, execution, and successful timely delivery of Natural gas projects within the City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector. This role requires in-depth knowledge of natural gas infrastructure, project management, and regulatory compliance, along with a strong ability to lead cross-functional teams to meet strategic goals.

Job Description

Project Planning and Management:

  • Lead and oversee the planning, design, and execution of CNG & PNG infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet budget, timeline, quality, and safety standards.
  • Ensure alignment of project plans with the company’s business goals, while managing resources, scope, and timelines.
  • Establish project milestones, monitor progress, and proactively resolve issues to minimize risks and delays.
  • Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring effective cost control, procurement, and vendor management.

Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Ensure all CNG & PNG projects comply with local, state, and national regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  • Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and permits for project execution.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, engineering, procurement) and external contractors and vendors.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, project managers, and support staff.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the project team.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status, key risks, and performance metrics.

Risk Management and Quality Assurance:

  • Proactively identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize negative impacts.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) protocols are followed during project execution.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to construction, installation, or operations that arise during or after project execution.

Cost Control and Financial Management:

  • Review and approve project budgets, monitoring expenditures against projections, ensuring projects are completed within allocated resources
  • Analyse financial performance and propose corrective actions for any variances.

Innovation and Process Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in natural gas technology and industry trends.
  • Recommend improvements to processes, systems, and technologies to optimize project delivery and overall operational efficiency.
  • Promote sustainable practices in project design, construction, and operation.

Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the design, construction, and operation of CNG & PNG infrastructure, including pipelines, compressors, regulators, and metering systems.
  • Familiarity with CGD-specific software and tools used for project management, design, and monitoring.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and projects of significant scale and complexity.
